OUtdoor Pursuits Rental Policy

Want to go camping, climbing, or just be outside and don’t have the equipment?

Well turn that frown upside down! Now students, faculty, and staff can rent outdoor equipment through the University!

1. The renter assumes sole liability for any injuries or damages sustained by himself/herself and/or others, including damages to property of renter and/or others, while using the equipment. Any claim about the unsuitability for the rented equipment is limited solely to the refund of the rental fee.
2. The renter is responsible for the full replacement cost of lost, stolen, or damaged equipment. The equipment is accepted by the renter “as is.” The renter has the responsibility to examine the equipment prior to accepting it. Renters who return equipment that is damaged or extremely dirty may be charged for replacement.
3. All rental fees are nonrefundable whether the equipment is used or not. Please plan ahead.
4. Advanced reservation must be paid in full at the time of reservation. Reservation cancellations must be made 48-hours prior to pick up time to receive a full refund. No refunds will be given after 48-hours notice.
5. Late fees will be assessed on a daily rate unless tardiness prevents a reservation pickup. In this case, the late fee must cover the fees already paid for by the reservation that is being prevented.
6. Rented equipment must be picked up on Thursday between 2-6 pm (or by appointment that day).
7. Rented equipment must be returned on the following Monday between 2-6 pm. Late fees will be assessed for each day after the due date. If you fail to return the equipment on the due date special arrangement can be made to return the equipment with applicable late fees and a special arrangement fee of $10.00.
8. All equipment must be returned clean and in good condition. A minimum cleaning charge of $20.00 will be charged if equipment is returned soiled, wet, or dirty.
9. Renters will be charged repair and shipping of damaged equipment or full replacement cost of lost, stolen, or severely damaged equipment. Repair fees are dependent on the article of equipment repaired. Individuals abusing equipment or not following policies may be ineligible to rent equipment in the future.
10. Tents are to be set up when picked up and returned. This assures that all the pieces of the tent are present and there is no damage.
11. Rental fees may be paid by cash, check, or credit card. Late fees must be paid by cash, check, or credit card at the time the equipment is returned. Failure to pay late fees at the time of return will result in a charge being assessed to the Bursar’s Office.
